NSW Chapter Inaugural Meeting - 20 February 2003
The New South Wales Chapter of the Australian Labour Law Association held its inaugural meeting on February 20 2003. Mr Jeff Shaw introduced Justice Lance Wright, President of the Industrial Relations Commission of New South Wales who gave the evening address. In his paper, Justice Wright spoke of the work of the New South Wales Commission; and he began by examining its one hundred years of history, for the original Industrial Arbitration Court conducted its first hearing in April 1902, one hundred years ago. Then he spoke of recent test cases which have come before the Commission since the coming into force of the Industrial Relations Act 1996. He concluded by looking at the future role of the Commission in our changing world.
